Disgraced Nashville politician Megan Barry.

NASHVILLE —  Big news in Nashville today, as Megan Barry has resigned as mayor.  Earlier this month, we reported that Megan Barry was refusing to step down as mayor of Nashville — despite the fact that she knowingly  used public funds for her  romantic romp with another man (that wasn’t her hubby).

Now,   Barry has resigned amid felony theft charges and must pay the city back more than $11,000 per court documents obtained by The Daily Fix.  Barry  avoided jail time all together,  although, she will never be able to hold public office again.

“While my time today as your mayor concludes, my unwavering love and sincere affection for this wonderful city and its great people never ends,” Barry said at a news conference.

The news comes after we also reported that Barry ‘s cell phone had been confiscated by investigators.  With such, an additional phone from Sgt Forrest had also been confiscated that proved they had several intimate encounters (because of the nude photos that were found on his phone).

Forrest will have to pay $45,000 back to the city and be on probation for at least 4 years. Barry, will be on probation for about three according to authorities.
