Turns out, even Steve Wynn couldn’t survive sexual assault allegations. According to Wynn, he has resigned from his own company effective Tuesday.
“In the last couple of weeks, I have found myself the focus of an avalanche of negative publicity,” Wynn said in a statement Tuesday. “As I have reflected upon the environment this has created—one in which a rush to judgment takes precedence over everything else, including the facts—I have reached the conclusion I cannot continue to be effective in my current roles.”
The move comes after the WSJ reported that he previously secretly paid settlements to the tune of $7.5m to multiple women he denies that he sexually assaulted. Meanwhile, regulators in at least two states confirmed to the Daily News that Wynn is under investigation for illegal gambling practices.
