Tech companies and their former employees, from companies like Google; Facebook, and more are coming together. As the newly created Center for Humane Technology points out, the employees, have already garnered millions in donations to help fight America’s growing addiction.
So far, as of this writing the project’s biggest donations come from Comcast and DirecTV who donated $50m in airtime and advertising. Tech companies are now hoping to convince people to put down their phones more than ever before, because, their employees have now turned the tables on them.
On top of that, the group aims to produce massive media spots that will now try and convince consumers that tech giants have manipulated them for years. So badly manipulated them, that “consumers have now become endlessly tethered to their devices”.
